Hundreds of additional GP appointments were made available to patients by GP practices across Surrey Heartlands over the Easter weekend in response to the continuing impact of capacity pressures.
Surrey Heartlands partners worked closely together, signposting appropriate services such as the extra GP appointments and other special measures put in place over the Easter weekend, alongside general advice on how people can keep themselves well. More than 300 additional GP appointments were attended in the North West Surrey CCG area alone.
In addition, media coverage and social media activity – along with posters everywhere from GP practices to bus shelters – urged people to remember important items such as timely ordering of repeat prescriptions and not to hesitate to seek help from pharmacists, GPs, NHS 111 or, in genuine emergencies, A&E. It is always better to be seen sooner rather than later.
