The NHS is the largest employer in Europe. There are over 350 different careers in the NHS almost half of which are non-clinical; and there is a role for everyone with the right skills and values. Developed in conjunction with The Royal Foundation and Walking with the Wounded, Step into Health provides a dedicated pathway for the Armed Forces community to access the numerous career opportunities available in the NHS.
Step into Health is open to all service leavers and veterans, their spouses or partners. It is an opportunity in which NHS employers are working with the Armed Forces community to provide career and development opportunities.
Catering, maintenance, administration, finance, communications, management, or a role in one of the clinical services are just some of the areas of NHS employment accessible through the Step into Health programme. The NHS is keen to share transferable skills and the potential training and career opportunities available.
The Step into Health Programme has been created because the NHS recognises the transferable skills and cultural values that Armed Forces personnel develop when serving, and how they are compatible with those required in NHS roles.
