Welcome to our December newsletter

/, 2017-12 Newsletter/Welcome to our December newsletter

As winter is firmly making its mark, we’ve been working across Surrey Heartlands to prepare as a system and you can read more about our preparations below.  We are expecting a tough winter, with a particularly virulent flu strain so if you are eligible for a free flu jab, do take up the opportunity.

Congratulations to our providers who are reporting higher than ever levels of staff taking up the vaccine;  and to frontline colleagues in particular; if you haven’t had your vaccination yet, there’s still time!

With the holiday season fast approaching, there are simple preparations you can make to stay well such as making sure you have all your repeat prescriptions;  further information on finding GP and pharmacy opening hours is included below, or see your local CCG website or NHS Choices here.

I’d particularly like to highlight our recent blog by Jen Bayly on atrial fibrillation (AF) and the work we’re doing to identify people with AF who are not aware they have it.  You can access the blog here.

Overall, it’s been a busy month and you can see a summary of what we’ve been doing in our latest report hereWe’ve also launched our new look website at www.surreyheartlands.uk – let us know what you think and what more would be helpful for us to include.

In the meantime, have a great Christmas and we look forward to continuing to work with you in 2018.

With very best wishes
Dr Claire Fuller, Senior Responsible Officer for Surrey Heartlands
