Hopefully by now the Beast From The East and its smaller siblings have done their worst and Spring is finally establishing itself. However, high demand for health services continues to take its toll and we are continuing to work as a system to ensure patients get the care they need, when they need it.
On an extremely positive note, the first Surrey Heartlands EXPO event took place at Sandown Park in Esher earlier this month. It was well attended not only by colleagues from health and social care but also leaders from academia and industry with around 300 delegates. The event was to bring people together to highlight opportunities for innovation to deliver improvements in health and social care. There was such a buzz of enthusiasm throughout the event and we look forward to seeing a range of exciting outcomes.
I’m also delighted to report that Surrey Heartlands was one of a number of areas included in the recent Government announcement of £760 million in capital funding, receiving around £500,000 to improve crisis mental health facilities which is fantastic news. See more below.
In the meantime, hoping you all enjoyed a happy and restful Easter break,
With very best wishes
Dr Claire Fuller, Senior Responsible Officer for Surrey Heartlands
