Welcome to our latest newsletter
I’m delighted to let you know that the fabulous Dr Charlotte Canniff was the star interviewee on NHS England’s first podcast focusing on Primary Care Networks. Charlotte is a passionate advocate of PCNs and leads primary care transformation here at Surrey Heartlands Integrated Care System, as well as representing primary care for us nationally. Of course, Primary Care Networks are the foundation for developing a true integrated care system. There’s a link to her podcast below.
We have also announced that the Primary Care Networks across Surrey Heartlands are to develop a new integrated way of working that aims to improve the wellbeing and care of people with mental health conditions in Surrey. There’s more information below about the three pilots planned as a first step in this development.
What’s more, people with mental health conditions can now access specialist advice and support round the clock since the launch of a new and improved NHS Mental Health Crisis Helpline. It used to be just an evenings and weekends service but reading the comments of service user Larissa – who helps in the Surrey and Borders Trust decision-making process – this is a hugely important development for those who will be calling the team and asking for their expert support. More about this below too.
I would like to direct all my colleagues toward the Surrey 500 leadership development initiative which opens its doors in May to help our front line workforce and those already in leadership roles overcome barriers and foster a culture of collaboration across our system. It is Surrey Heartlands’ first large-scale leadership programme and I wish it every success.
Finally, those of you who are subscribers to the Health Service Journal may have already seen my article on how engagement with citizens, staff and wider partners is mission critical for the Surrey Heartlands’ vision. In fact the HSJ has been kind enough to remove their paywall for this article so anyone can access it here. I hope you enjoy reading it.
With very best wishes,
Dr Claire Fuller, Senior Responsible Officer for Surrey Heartlands Integrated Care System
